Representation without fee
A limited number of matters are accepted without fee each year, where the applicant is unable to meet the cost of representation and the matter raises a genuine question requiring adjudication.
Who may apply
- Applicants with no means of engaging counsel, supported by an income declaration
- Senior citizens and persons with disability in service and pension matters
- Widows and dependants pursuing compassionate appointment or family pension
- Students and teachers in admission, examination or appointment disputes
- Matters referred by legal services authorities
How a request is considered
- 01Send a written request setting out the facts and your circumstances.
- 02The record is reviewed to assess whether the matter is arguable.
- 03Every request is considered individually; acceptance is not automatic.
- 04If accepted, the scope of representation is confirmed in writing.
Pro bono capacity is limited and each request is assessed on its own facts. No commitment arises until acceptance is confirmed in writing.
